Congratulations to Bianka Lee who is currently featured in the examiner newspaper for her acting ability….well done!!

FOUR budding, young Port Stephens actors have scored roles in a production of the musical The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The Young Peoples Theatre production at Hamilton is running throughout the school holidays and at weekends until the end of November.

Port juniors to feature are Jake Nye, 11 and Bianka Lee, 17, of Boat Harbour and Harold Phipps, 15 and his sister Jasmine, 9, from Corlette.

The plot has four children walking through a wardrobe and into a magical land where animals talk and a battle for power is underway. The play is the first time Jake Nye and Harold Phipps have played main roles and according to fellow actress Bianka they are both thrilled.

“As a cast we are working hard on making sure our portrayal of the characters reflect those in the original,” she said. “My favourite part of the show is either the surprise arrival of Father Christmas, or the Sacrifice of Aslan the Lion.”

Becky had her first shoot with us several years back and also stars in our Capture Imaging model video, so she is very much apart of our studio. We always love an update on where our models are and what they are doing. We are so proud of what Becky has achieved so far, I was thrilled when I saw Becky had a double page spread in Zoo Magazine last week. Becky has also be photographed for Ralph Magazine along with many other publications in recent years.

I caught up with Becky this week and she has been busy on the catwalk launching Bra’s'n’  things Summer range and doing a lot of promotional work in Sydney for many high profile companies. Becky thrives on hard work and markets herself very well.

Becky is really excited about her current project and is working very had training getting ready for an international modeling competition in Singapore so we wish her the best of luck for the next couple of months.

Many of our Miss Surfest girls recognised Becky in our studio and aspire to follow in her foot steps.  I tell the girls that not only is Becky a stunning beautiful girl but she is a really beautiful person on the inside, very sweet and down to earth which I think makes her natural beauty shine.

Zoey found us on facebook and is good friends with Anita (current miss surfest). During her planning meeting we discussed the images she wanted in her model portfolio, and decided on a studio shoot in her bikini, plus a few more outfit changes and maybe an outdoor shoot on the sand dunes or beach. The day arrived for her shoot and the weather was really bad, blowing rain outside. Zoey looked stunning after her makeup was done and we got some great shots in the studio. Zoey is a very confident and beautiful woman, and we had a lot of fun creating these images. Well done Zoey.

Every day is different at the studio, as every body has different reasons for wanting to have their images captured.
Rosie, a beautiful lady in her 50′s, larger than life in character and a true heart of gold. Told me in her planning session that “She wanted to have a glamour shoot done, something a little arty and just a little bit cheeky.” Rosie also wanted some shots that we “Mummy Friendly”  to give to her Mum, just as they had family portraits done many years ago, when Rosie was in her teens.

We decided that Rosie was more comfortable in her own home rather than the studio to do the glamour shoot so Brent, Alex and our make up artist went to Rosie’s home, as it was a lovely back drop to use  in the images as well.

Well Rosie had a ball, she felt thoroughly pampered and loved having  hair & makeup done. Rosie put her favourite music on as Brent and Alex worked their magic to produce these stunning images.

Rosie is thrilled and now has a beautiful, personal gift to give to her Mum on Mother’s Day.

Rosie is so thrilled with images that she has given Brent full permission to enter these images in the up and coming photographic competitions. Brent is honored to be able to work with truly beautiful woman, inside and out.

Brittney Mason was runner up in Miss Surfest Model Competition. Brittney had a shoot Brent a year ago and came in for another session. In twelve moths we certainly noticed how Britt’s confidence has bloomed.

In the planning meetign we went through Britt’s last shoot and had a look at those amazing images. She is such a beautiful girl and such an infectious smile. She explained to me how in all her photos she was smiling, she want to be creative this time, a little bit more edgy, more attitude and less smiles.

We had our Make up artist, Kim from Blush Brides join us in the studio where she did an amazing transformation on Britt, smokey sultry eyes with just a hint of color on her lips.

Brent did the first half of the shoot in the studio. He had Britt pose on the swing which always makes for a beautiful shot, we tied some color balloons on the swing. Lots of smiles and some amazing images captured.

Brent then decided to venture into the great outdoors. We are so lucky with the location of the studio that only minutes away are some really cool natural back drops, the dunes, the beaches and the bush.

Tommaree Headland at the world war II gun emplacements is a perfect back drop. Weathered metal doors welded shut, the graffiti of reckless youths, place gorgeous Britt in the middle and with Brent’s magic….pure art.

Northern NSW Football contacted us to do a promotion shoot for the w-league girls in Newcastle. They wanted to create a glamour/disco theme  for promoting the league. None of these women are models, they are all womens premier league football players. We had so much fun shooting the girls on a white background after they had their hair and makeup done. We had them shouldering each other and jumping for headers (without a ball of course). I used 1 main light in front of the girls and a few background lights on the white background. I think the poster is awesome. Below are the original images from the shoot. Thanks to Alana for hair and makeup, Dave Cromarty (northern nsw football) for using us again, and a special thanks to the girls for doing their thing and making it a fun night. Enjoy, Brent.

Nat, came to our studio after recently being one of the finalist for Miss Surfest at Fanny’s Night club.

In the planning meeting Nat explained to us that she wanted to use the photo shoot to use for her portfolio. Nat wanted to break a little with the traditional shots and get a little creative. Together we created several different scenarios. The Hitchhiker worked really well and  one of my favorite shots of Nat was to the old derelict  world war 2 gunning tower on Tomaree Headland at shoal bay.

The very talanted Kim from Blush Brides did Nat’s make up. Kim has been in the industy for years and true talent in making women glow.   Kim spent hours with us on the modeling shoots and works closely with Brent during the shoot to make sure our models are looking fresh and beautiful.

Nat was great fun to work with and I am sure you’ll agree that Brent created amazing art for Nat’s portfolio. We wish Nat the best of luck in her very bright future and we look forward to working with her again.

Recently Samurai Beach Resort renovated and upgraded some of their cabins, and they contacted us for a commercial shoot to show off the new cabins with a weekend getaway “model couple” theme. These images are to be used in their new brochures and on the website (when it’s upgraded). Becky and her partner arrived for the shoot at noon and we proceeded to shoot the inside images.

In the deluxe studio apartment they have these awesome wood spas, all handmade in Australia. Very unique and they lend to the outdoor – high end retreat feel you get when visiting this resort. They even smell good…..anyone for a little aromatherapy?

I came back at dusk for the nigh shots…to give the cabins a more romantic, warm feel. I always use  hdr technology (3 exposures shot from a tripod – edited to create 1 image) when shooting low light images.

This is the 4th or 5th time I have worked with Becky, and she really is a superb professional model, so easy to work with. I highly recommend her. Brent

Nicole was a finalist in the miss surfest model competition this year. She comes from Salamander Bay which is really close to our studio. Nicole has so much energy and she brought all that passion to the shoot.

After the hair and makeup was done, we started in the studio with some really nice – soft light – closeups, then used our swing for more arty type images. Nicole has worked really hard on her physique in the past year and I really wanted to show this in these images. I used hard light with shadows to emphasis her hard belly.

We ended up going to shoal bay and shooting on the beach under the wharf, and then headed for zenith beach and got the final images in the surf. Nicole picked up her model portfolio and CD of images last week before the Easter holidays and was totally thrilled.

Lauralai is an amazing model who comes from Brisbane, and was passing through Port Stephens recently. I have photographed her underwater before and this was a chance to give it another go. Underwater modelling is the most difficult kind of modelling around  - holding breath, posing upside down, water clarity and temperature, hair and clothing movement, special – expensive underwater photography equipment etc.

We tried a few poses in our studio pool in Anna Bay with different backdrops and outfits. We then hiked to a secret rock-pool in Tomaree National Park that is very difficult to get to…..but worth the effort. Have a look at some of the images I got there. I love creating ART, thanks Laura! Brent
