After the outdoor shoot with the family the kids came back to the studio and had an aqua shoot in the studio pool. Pirates and mermaids were the order of the afternoon. They swam and dove for treasure. The kids had such a sense of wonderment in their images, to finally be what they pretended to be at home. Just for the afternoon they WERE Pirates and Mermaids and imaginations ran wild. Amazing images to look back on when they grow to be adults and remember that magical afternoon.

We tried a few poses in our studio pool in Anna Bay with different backdrops and outfits. We then hiked to a secret rock-pool in Tomaree National Park that is very difficult to get to…..but worth the effort. Have a look at some of the images I got there. I love creating ART, thanks Laura! Brent

It finally happened, we launched the Aquakids 2010 Calendar and raised over $2000 for SIDS and Kids Hunter Region.

A huge amount of work went into finishing the first aquakids calendar – thankyou all involved especially Rosie who did most of the design and everyone else from Capture Imaging. Also thanks to Alex for braving the icy conditions and jumping into the pool to shoot the kids who were amped and waiting to be photographed underwater. Also thanks to Salamander Aquatic Centre for hosting this event and doing an excellent job with the catering (had really good feedback about the food).

Capture Imaging Photography launched its AquaKids – SIDS 2010 Fundraising Calendar on the 27th September at Tomaree Aquatic Centre, Salamander Bay.

 The event was well attended with 100 guests despite the cold weather and strong winds. The theme was ‘Sarong and Thong’ with sarongs provided at the door. Children braved the conditions and took turns having their photos taken underwater.

Major Sponsor Hunter Water provided for printing of the calendars.
Major event sponsors were Raine & Horne Nelson Bay and Port Stephens Toyota as well as Port Stephens Examiner.

Many local businesses donated generous prizes for raffle- Samurai Beach Resort, Shoal Bay Beach Club Apartments, Lion Studios, Salamander Photo Centre, Bayside Jewellers, Jive Me Crazy, Capture Imaging Photography, Tomaree Aquatic Centre, NewsXpress Salamander Bay and Silent Shout DJ Sam.

Mark Richards, 4 times world Surfing Champion, patron for SIDS and Kids Hunter Region, attended and spoke about the great charity work that SIDS is doing for those in need.

Brent Mail of Capture Imaging Photography handed a cheque totalling $1975 to SIDS and Kids Hunter Region. That was the total raised through the Aquakids Project up to date. There is potential to raise another $10 000 for SIDS if more calendars sell by the end of the year.

Calendars will be available at local newsagents and retail locations, with all proceeds going directly to SIDS.

This will be an annual event.

Hopefully next year we have better weather and more people.

Samoa Trip August 2009

A couple of things I noticed as soon as we got off the plane was the humidity. Everything felt wet. It was the middle of the night and the outside temp was about 30 degrees. The people are super friendly and chilled. They are really big and stong and look a little initmidating, but were generally really cool.
