Just another glorious day here in the paradise of Port Stephens and another busy day at Capture Imaging.

Brent was out photographing  the Kennedy family as they laughed and played. The peaceful happiness of this family is just reflected beautifully in these images.

Wally is their eight year old Border Collie, who is very much apart of the family was included in the shoot. Like most dogs Wally is fixated on playing fetch with the ball. Brent was able to capture the intensity in Wally’s expression. The  family loved this image so much that Wally will now join the precious images of the family and hang on the walls in the Kennedy’s home.

We created this beautiful personal art for the Kennedy’s. We carefully choose their favourite images and had the images tailor matted ready for framing. Priceless art of Kennedy family for 2010.

Well one of the vital things that Brent has taught me is ALWAYS take your camera EVERYWHERE with you, well last night it paid off.

With such a busy day at the studio I said to my Hubby Jason, let’s have dinner at our local, Lakeside Tavern at Raymond Terrace. As we sat and enjoyed our meal there was an unusual buzz with the patrons for a Thursday night. Word soon spread the Julia Gillard was coming to meet and greet.

The flurry of media heralded her arrival, Julia spent the next hour chatting with everyone, taking time to talk to children and even drawing the fishing club’s meat raffle.

I personally had a little chat with her suggestion if she ever needed and an outstanding photograher, Brent Mail is the man that she needs to come and visit us at Capture Imaging. I found Julia to be delightful, very genuine and down to earth. I even got a great shot of Julia, with beer in hand and Hubby

Capture Imaging Supporting Ronald McDonald House Ball in August

The focus of Ronald McDonald House Charities work is to improve the health and well being of seriously ill children.

They carry this out by creating, finding, operating and supporting programs that help seriously ill children and their families while they receive medical treatment, and assist recovering children return to normal life.

The sold out 4th annual Ball was held last Saturday evening in at Newcastle and Brent and I were wondering what we can do to help this amazing organization. We have decided to donate a major prize to the value of $1330.00 Canvas package for one lucky family. Plus some runner up prizes as well. Here in the Studio we are also going to donate $50.00 from every family portrait sitting in the month of August.

Steve and Oonagh came to me asking for a panorama landscape image of Salamander Bay, just down the road from where they live in Corlette. I was up for the challenge and whenever I had the chance I would drive there and check the tide, wind and sun direction. It was a lot more difficult than I though to get the tide, wind and sun combination correct for the perfect shot…took me 3 months and about 6 different photo sessions. Below is the result – printed on canvas, hanging in their home. They are thrilled with the print. Soon I’ll put this print on moodsofportstephens website for anyone to order. We recently had a four lovely girls in for a fun, family photo shoot. Three generations from the one family. The Girls all had fun choosing their out fits so they we all co ordinated and doing their hair and make up together.

The Studio was filled with laughter as, Mum & Grandmother donned the boxing gloves for a bit of fun while the granddaughters egged them on. Mum and Daughters got to have a turn as well.

 For all the fun that they had in the photo shoot and as all families they do argue from time to time, there was certainly a lot of love captured in these images on the day. The photos are a lovely reminder of good times together and a little piece of family history to be treasured in the future.

The 2010 Miss Surfest model contest has come to an end. Anita Kovac was crowned miss surfest on Friday night at Fannys night club in Newcastle. We (Capture Imaging) are a sponsor of miss surfest and we give away prizes to all the contestants as well as model portfolio photography packages to the winners. Today I photographed the finalists at the beach while the surfing contest was going on. There were huge crowds down at the beach watching the surfing and enjoying the event. I managed to get the girls away from the crowds and down to the rocks near the merewether ocean baths. Here are a few fun shots.

This has been our 4th commercial studio shoot for the online store - Hula Hut,  they offer the latest in women’s fashion online. We have had a lot of fun shooting with Karinne, Prue and Annie. The online store is going really well with many visitors and orders.

Below is an image of Karinne from Hula Hut and Annie – the very talented model we have been using for the past few months. All of the images online focus on the clothing, that is why Annie has her head chopped off. The studio setup is not an easy task with a white background, I had to use a 3 light setup, 2 background lights and one main light on Annie (model).

Just read in the local paper today that Kurt finished the Kokoda trail – he draggged himself the 96 kilometers!!! What a challenge.
